- How can I change my preferences for search radius, sort order, and so forth?
Go to the iPhone's Settings, scroll down to the bottom, and tap the Puluwai settings icon.
You can adjust several preferences very easily.
- I'm a real estate agent. How can I ensure that my properties for sale show up in Puluwai searches?
By far the easiest way to upload all your property listings to us is via Google. They've put together some great
tools for assisting with this. The best part is that your listings will show up in Google searches as well, not just
on Puluwai. Follow these excellent instructions.
- I'm a homeowner trying to sell my house. How can I ensure that my house for sale shows up in Puluwai searches?
We highly recommend using ForSaleByOwner to create your
property listing. It's easy, and it can save you a lot of money. If this seems like too much work, then simply
hire a real estate agent or broker who is already using Google to list properties online.
- Where do your property listings come from?
We use the best quality data feeds we can for the markets we cover (currently the USA, Canada, the UK, Ireland, and
New Zealand). If your market is not covered, it means we have not yet found a satisfactory source of data for
that country.

- I'd like to have you build a custom version of Puluwai that I can give out to my clients. It might have
my custom branding, logo, and maybe only show clients my property listings. Can you do this for me?
At this time the only way to distribute iPhone applications is via Apple's App Store / iTunes. This means
that your custom application would appear in the App Store side-by-side with Puluwai, which makes no sense, and
your custom app would be targeted to a very narrow market, which also makes no sense for most iPhone users. So at
this time we're not considering building custom versions of Puluwai. This may change in the future
as Apple's distribution policies change.
- I searched for homes for sale in my dream neighborhood and didn't get any results. What gives?
We try hard to obtain the best property listings we can in the markets we cover; however, we cannot
guarantee that we will get property listings from every real estate agent or homeowner in a given area. Also,
there may simply be no properties for sale in your neighborhood with the parameters you specified. Usually the
easiest way to broaden your search is to raise the maximum price or increase the allowable distance in Settings.
- I simply despise advertising. How dare you place ads next to real estate property listings in Puluwai?
We're sorry you feel that way. We feel that the ads we place in Puluwai are small and inoffensive, and they
help defray the cost of operating our service. We're constantly striving to make the ads we display more
relevant to the real estate searches our users perform. Please remember that this application is FREE and we do not
filter search results based on kickbacks from realtors or anyone else.
You get the best search results we can provide for free.
- What markets do you cover?
We cover the USA, Canada, the UK, Ireland, and New Zealand currently. Our goal is to cover other countries
as high quality data feeds become available.
- What does "Puluwai" mean? Is it an acronym?
Puluwai is Hawaiian and roughly translates as "patch of land". Puluwai was conceived and developed in
Kapa'au, Hawai'i. (Where there are some very nice homes for sale.)
- I'd be willing to pay for Puluwai. Will you release a paid version of Puluwai with no ads?
At this time we have no plans to release a paid version of Puluwai. If you want to support us, please visit
our sponsors when their products and services interest you.
- How do I become a beta tester for forthcoming versions of Puluwai?
Simply contact us with your name, email address, and tell us what kind of iPhone or iPod Touch you have.
We're still arranging the beta test details with Apple, but we do need a few good, reliable beta testers who
are heavy Puluwai users.
- Will Puluwai run on my jailbroken (unlocked) iPhone?
We currently only support the iPhone 2.0 OS for iPhone and iPod Touch, which is the official Apple-supported
platform.
- Can I get Puluwai for my Blackberry, Palm Treo/Centro, or Nokia S60 phone?
At this time, no. If you're in a position to pay for a port of Puluwai to these platforms,
contact us.
